Google Earth News

It’s been brought to my attention that the Google Earth function of the Google Maps Plugin is no longer working. After some research today, I’ve found that Google discontinued support for saving Google Maps URLs to KML format (possibly just this week from what I’ve read). The plugin relied on this function to send addresses to Google Earth.

There are other ways to implement the feature, but no quick fix that I can implement now. The way that the plugin was designed would require a complete rewrite of the Google Earth code from the ground up, not something that I have the time to tackle right now.

I suspect that I’ll have to put out a new update that simply removes the Google Earth functions for the time being until I come up with an ideal solution.

(This is a problem with software that relies on a 3rd party.)
